    Description

Vintage Chinoiserie Famille Rose Jardiniere FISHBOWL PLANTER / POT.  Cranes, Peacocks, KOI, flowering trees, bamboo, flowers & insects. Very good to excellent condition and clean.
The beautiful wrap around scene depicts; two RED-CROWNED CRANES watching a male and female PEACOCK in a bamboo patch and flowering trees. Fifteen plus colorful flowers with dragonflies and butterflies float against a light blue background. All the art is in raised relief.
The interior scene is of; three KOI fish
    鯉魚
in vivid colors surrounded by fifteen water plants. It looks amazing filled with water up to the highest lily pads.
The borders and top rim have three repeating designs: geometric and floral.
ALL PHOTOS TAKEN IN NATURAL LIGHT WITHOUT FLASH.
PIC # 7 OF CRANES HAS A LIGHT SOURCE REFLECTION TO THE RIGHT OF THE CRANE. THE BLUE AREA THERE IS THE SAME COLOR AND DARKNESS AS THE REST OF THE BLUE BACKGROUND. ALL COLORS ARE CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT THE PIECE.
Measures 14 1/8th inches across the top by 12 inches high
. Weighs 16 pounds 4 ounces. There is a faint / faded ink stamped box with what appear to be maker's marks.
The bottom has concentric etched lines radiating from center to the foot-rim. They appear to be made by hand as the pot was turned before original firing.
Most of any wear found on this piece is on the foot-rim; it has water marks / iron stains and wear to the little glaze they originally applied. There is no pottery damaged on bottom. The foot-rim is hard.
No cracks, chips, gouges or stains on the exterior body and interior. I find no flaws on the art.
I find one small production flaw in the blue background above the cranes: there is a small dimple/hiccup/under-glazed area in the pottery (it is not flaking or soft - SEE PIC # 7).
This lovely and unique fishbowl pot is clean, bright and ready for service and display.
WHITE SPOTS AND STREAKS ARE REFLECTIONS AND GLARE FROM THE LIGHTING.
